Weekend Happenings, 11/1-11/3

A fabulous fall weekend is in store with lots of sunshine and thankfully calmer winds, making it a great opportunity to take advantage of time outside with family and friends.

Pirates of Emerson Haunted Theme Park, Pleasanton, 11/1 & 11/2
Enjoy the last gasp of Halloween at the Pirates of Emerson Haunted Theme Park. Perfect for those who like a good scare, the haunted attraction, now in its 28th year, features five haunts: Mystery Mansion, Hillbilly Holler, Pirates of Emerson, Dorm of Doom and the Maze Haze as well as live music and dancing. Expect actors in costume to jump out and strobe lights to illuminate your path. Pirates of Emerson is not recommended for impressionable children. It’s a good option for adults and families with older kids looking for a ghoulishly fun evening.

25th Annual Holiday Fantasy, Crow Canyon Country Club, San Ramon, 11/3
Join us for the 25th annual Holiday Fantasy! The event this year will take place at the Crow Canyon Country Club and will feature a luncheon, fabulous entertainment, festive Christmas trees, colorful wreaths, and great prizes. Tickets are $65. Diablo Summit Stomp, Mt. Diablo State Park, Walnut Creek, 11/2
The longer you go, the more you see and experience! Courses are all on dirt trails, heading out from Castle Rock Park in Walnut Creek, heading into Mount Diablo State Park — all the way to the summit for the 30K, and 5K, 10K and half marathon distances are also available. What could possibly go wrong when the bitter and irritable Abby gets assigned Marilyn, an overly cheerful roommate? Abby wants to get rid of Marilyn so the two bet that if Marilyn can make Abby scared before Abby makes her angry, she can stay. In David Lindsay-Abaire’s 2015 Off-Broadway hit, Ripcord, two retirement home residents devise dirty tricks to torment each other that will leave the audience in stitches. Tickets: $33 – 35
The Fantasticks, 11/1, 11/2, & 11/3
Try to remember” a time when The Fantasticks wasn’t warming the hearts of audiences around the world. The 1960 musical tells the story of two fathers who trick their children, Matt and Luisa into falling in love. The timeless fable has been a favorite of audiences for nearly 60 years. $19-$41.

Great for Kids:
Forest Home Farms, San Ramon, 11/2
Experience what it was like to live and work in the valley during the 1800’s at San Ramon’s Forest Home Farms. Each week features a seasonal lesson that’s perfect for kids to discover what life was like in the “olden days.” This Saturday, learn more about weaving and wool. Each year sheep grow a fluffy coat of wool. Find out how sheep’s fleece is turned into something we can use, see herding demonstrations and meet a sheep up close. 11 am – 2 pm.

Tail Waggin’ Fun, East Bay Doodle Romp, Hap Magee Park, 11/2
Doodles are invited to enjoy some off-leash play at Hap Magee Park while owners swap stories, mingle and share info about everything “doodle.” Well, socialized dogs only and please remember to pick up after your dog. 9:30 am.

Holiday Family Picture Day, Blackhawk Plaza, Danville, 11/2

Pawtrero Dog Day Afternoon, San Francisco, 11/3
Come join Pawtrero Bathhouse and Feed Store for our 13th Annual Dog Day Afternoon, the largest pet street fair in San Francisco, from 11 am to 3 pm. It takes place on Brannan Street (between Delancey and the Embarcadero) in front of Pawtrero. There will be a pet costume contest, pet caricatures, & DJ. You can trick or treat between over 30 pet-related vendors for your dog or cat. Check out the Delancey BBQ and beer garden! Help us support over 16 local dog and cat rescues that will be there with animals for adoption!
