Disneyland Delays Reopening

Disneyland will not open on July 17, 2020.

“The State of California has now indicated that it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4.” Disney said in a statement.

“Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials.”
“Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date,” the company added.

However, the Downtown Disney District will still reopen on July 9, 2020,  the company said.

Disneyland Park is Reopening

After shutting down during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Disneyland is going to reopen on July 17, 2020. The Downtown Disney District will be opening July 9, 2020.

Upon reopening, certain parks, hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences, and other offerings will be modified or unavailable, will have limited capacity, and will be subject to limited availability or even closure, and park admission and offerings are not guaranteed. View important details. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.

The Disneyland Resort will reopen with some important updates to promote physical distancing, including:

Park Reservations: Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, they will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all Guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.

New Ticket Sales: At this time, we are also temporarily pausing new ticket sales and Annual Passport sales and renewals. Additional details will be provided soon.

Hotels of the Disneyland Resort: Pending governmental approval, Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests will once again enjoy being immersed in the magic when Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopen to Guests and members starting on July 23, 2020. The Disneyland Hotel will open at a later date. Plans to support physical distancing as well as increased cleaning measures, along with a number of other health and safety protocols, will be implemented as part of the phased reopening of our hotels and the Disney Vacation Club.

Danville Preparing for Possible Looting

Downtown Danville business owners spent all-day boarding up to prepare for possible looting. There have been numerous social media posts going around threatening Danville.

I was able to talk with a few business owners and they expressed their frustration about how much they have already been through with COVID-19 and dealing with the financial heartaches of what it has caused. Walking downtown today was surreal to see our charming little town become on the verge of chaos.

However, a sense of community was apparent and all around. I saw strangers lending a hand, friends showing up for support, and most of all….LOVE.

People behind the threats are evil and have no good intentions. This isn’t about the horrific death of George Floyd. This situation affected ALL of us. We were ALL upset over what happened. Protest peacefully, be kind, show love, but STOP the violence.

Danville Residents Urged to Stay Home & Secure Belongings

The Danville Police Department sends out a News Alert about State of Emergency Declared:

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED – 8 PM CURFEW SET

Due to the looting and violence that is occurring in Walnut Creek, the Town of Danville has declared a State of Emergency due to Civil Unrest. Under that State of Emergency, police have instituted a mandatory curfew beginning at 8 pm. through 5 am. (As of 6/1/2020).  Residents are asked to stay at home during this time.
Additional police personnel have been activated and are maintaining patrols throughout the Town.

Police Chief Allan Shields stated:

“Following the Sunday violence in Walnut Creek and other Bay Area cities, we have taken action to better safeguard our Town. We have brought in additional officers to reinforce our patrols, as well as to monitor various social media platforms for information regarding any future looting actions.
To prepare for this potential threat the Danville Police Department is taking several actions. We are in constant communication with our Town Council and Town Staff to make sure we have all available information and to provide them with the information we have. We are increasing staffing and patrols, monitoring social media and other intelligence sources, and coordinating with local law enforcement so that we can react rapidly to evolving threats. The most important thing to know is that we hold the safety our Danville community as our highest priority, and will take all precautions possible to maintain the safety of our residents and businesses.”

A Danville High School student was organizing a Peaceful Protest for Tuesday, June 2. Due to the threats of violence that have become attached to the event, they have chosen to cancel it in favor of another date.

Blackhawk Grille Permanently Closed

We are saddened to say, Blackhawk Grille in Blackhawk Plaza is closing permanently. The Grille has been a popular spot to go to for dinner, drinks, birthday parties, and many celebrations!

As I walked around the empty walkways of Blackhawk Plaza, there was an uncanny silence. Let’s hope after all of this is over, we will feel some sense of normalcy again.

Until then, let’s keep supporting small businesses! We are in this together! #Danvilletogether

Community Cup Danville

A Danville Teen, Lindsey Lonergan started Community Cup Danville to help local businesses!

We may not be able to grab our daily cup of coffee in town, but we CAN still fill it by participating in Community Cup.

Let’s help our local businesses through these uncertain times by donating the money you would typically spend on your morning jolt to this relief fund.

All money raised will go directly to the Danville Chamber of Commerce, which will be used to help our local shops bridge the gap to reopening. Soon, we’ll be able to support our favorite businesses in person. Until then, pour a cup of compassion, knowing that every dollar you donate will flow directly to our downtown!
