This event has ended

It’s our their turn to let the Bay Area in on the historic opportunity to celebrate the all important 150th Anniversary of the connection between the Central Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad through Niles Canyon from Sacramento to Oakland (Alameda) on September 6, 1869.

Plan to arrive at 11:45AM to check in with the ticket agents. Included in your fare is a noon lunch prepared by the Niles Canyon Railway Commissary team in the Niles Station Garden as well as some special souvenirs commemorating your visit. The train will depart 1:30PM and return 2-2.5 hours later.

A short water stop will be held at Sunol. Passengers can visit our Gift Shop, as well as visit the Depot Freight Room to see the Stanford University exhibit of historic photos and artifacts entitled The Chinese and the Iron Road, which provides a visual understanding of the difficult work accomplished by the 12,000 Chinese laborers who built the railroad, and what became of these men after they connected the West. Of course, the photo opportunities will be abundant with the locomotive taking water adjacent to the 1880’s Depot.

**Included with your fare is a lunch prepared by the Niles Canyon Commissary team in the Niles/Fremont Station Garden, as well as some special souvenirs commemorating your visit. Lunch is provided before your train ride so please come around 12:00-12:30 p.m.
